Note: Ability to use any version of Microsoft Windows is required. Familiarity with other Windows applications like Microsoft Office is recommended.
 

This course covers all the fundamentals and professional features of using AutoCAD through a series of lectures, interactive sessions, and hands-on exercises. Participants will gain the knowledge and experience they need to use AutoCAD Professional as an effective drawing, editing, and design tool.

By the end of this course, participants will be able to:

• Understand the AutoCAD workspace, tools and navigation. 
• Create and edit accurate 2D drawings. 
• Organize drawings using layers, blocks and attributes. 
• Use essential annotation, hatching and dimensioning tools. 
• Create layouts, viewports and drawing templates. 
• Prepare and plot professional drawings for PDF output.

DAY 1

AUTOCAD FUNDAMENTALS & PRECISION DRAWING

• Introduction to AutoCAD 2D drafting, interface and workspace 
• Navigation, viewing tools, Model Space and Paper Space 
• Drawing setup, units and coordinate systems 
• Absolute, relative and polar coordinates for precision drafting 
• Object Snap, Object Snap Tracking, Grid, Snap and Dynamic Input 
• Creating accurate 2D geometry including lines, polylines, circles, arcs and rectangles 
• Creating polygons, ellipses and basic curves 
• Selecting, moving, copying, rotating, mirroring, scaling and arraying objects 
• Using grips and essential object manipulation techniques 
• Applying Trim, Extend, Offset, Fillet, Chamfer, Stretch, Break, Join and Explode
  
   

DAY 2

AUTOCAD DRAWING ORGANIZATION, LAYERS & REUSABLE CONTENT

• Organizing Drawings with Layers
• Understanding the role of layers in organized AutoCAD drawings 
• Creating, naming and managing layers effectively 
• Applying layer colors, linetypes and lineweights 
• Controlling layer visibility through locking, freezing and isolation 
• Managing and editing object properties efficiently 
• Measuring distances and areas within drawings 
• Working with polylines, splines, boundaries and complex objects
• Creating, inserting and editing reusable blocks 
• Using DesignCenter, Tool Palettes and block attributes 
• Applying drawing standards, naming conventions and efficiency practices for larger drawings
   

DAY 3

AUTOCAD ANNOTATION, DIMENSIONING, LAYOUTS & PLOTTING

• Creating and formatting single-line and multiline text 
• Applying text styles and professional annotation techniques 
• Creating and editing accurate dimensions 
• Using linear, aligned, angular, radius and diameter dimensions 
• Managing dimension styles and center marks 
• Creating and editing hatch patterns for technical drawings 
• Working effectively between Model Space and Paper Space 
• Creating layouts, drawing sheets and scaled viewports 
• Setting up page sizes, plot areas, scales, orientations and lineweights 
• Creating professional PDF output and reusable drawing templates
