- COURSE OVERVIEW

A rule of thumb is “a rough guestimate measure, practice or experience”, as distinct from theory, in allusion to the use of the thumb for rough measurements. Engineers need such rules of thumb to guide decisions, set goals, check results and to help answer questions. Rules of thumb are essential and they are needed by working professionals. This course covers rules of thumb applicable to fluid flow, heat exchangers, fractionators, absorbers, pumps, drivers, separators/accumulators, boilers and cooling towers.
